Auburn State Theatre Moves to Next Stage of Restoration

Exciting news! On-site asbestos abatement at Auburn State Theatre (AST), meeting all California OSHA and EPA standards, has been completed. AST has received air clearance results stating that involved areas “meet the criteria for re-occupancy of a space, and all containment barriers may be removed.”

Although initial testing in April indicated a minimal amount of asbestos, AST needed to go through strict abatement processes to meet all federal and state regulations and guidelines. Roseville’s JM Environmental, Inc., a recognized leader in the Abatement and Demolition Industry, did the work of containment, removal and disposal of all porous materials including ceiling, ducts, stage curtains, chairs and carpeting, and completed a thorough cleaning of the Auditorium and affected areas.

AST now moves to the next stage of restoration, structural repair of trusses. Bill Larson, Principal Structural Engineer at Point 2 Structural Engineers, Inc. is currently designing, and will coordinate this work. Structural repair of trusses is estimated to take 8-10 weeks.
