February Theatre Restoration Update — Honoring History, Building the Future
As we move further into 2026, momentum continues to build at the Theatre—thanks to the generosity, belief and steady encouragement of our supporters.
Last month marked a critical milestone with the successful submission of our Construction Drawings to the City of Auburn. This step allows us to lock in current building codes ahead of upcoming 2026 changes, safeguarding both the integrity of the project and the investments made by our donors. It is a powerful example of how thoughtful planning today protects this historic Theatre for generations to come.
February offers meaningful moments to reflect on the role this Theatre has long played in our community. In honor of Black History Month, we are proud to present Becoming King, a powerful film that invites reflection, conversation and connection. The Theatre has always been a place where stories are shared and voices are amplified, and this screening continues that important tradition.
This month also brings Valentine’s Day, a perfect reminder that restoring this Theatre is truly a labor of love. Every donation—whether in honor of someone special or simply in support of a place that holds cherished memories—helps move us one step closer to reopening the doors to a fully restored, accessible and vibrant cultural home.
The Theatre remains alive with films and community gatherings, and planning continues for Cocktails & Cinema, our signature street party/fundraiser, on June 6, 2026. We are also developing new events throughout the year designed to expand engagement, visibility and critical fundraising support for the restoration.
Progress may unfold step by step, but it is your generosity that keeps the heart and spirit of the Theatre thriving. We are deeply grateful for your continued belief in this vision and for helping transform plans into lasting impact.
With sincere thanks,
Colleen M. Carberry Sands
Executive Director
