January Theatre Restoration Update — Building Momentum in 2026
Happy New Year!
We know the holiday season was a busy one for everyone, and we hope it was filled with joy, rest, and meaningful moments with loved ones.
As we begin 2026, we are pleased to share an important milestone made possible by the continued generosity of our supporters: the successful submission of our Construction Drawings to the City of Auburn. This achievement allows us to lock in current building codes ahead of the 2026 changes—an essential step that protects donor investments and keeps the project financially and structurally sound for decades to come.
Behind the scenes, momentum continues to build. Our General Contractor, Rod Tompkins, is fully engaged in gathering bids for all phases of construction, translating years of planning and community support into real, actionable next steps.
The theatre itself remains active and alive thanks to you. January brings a full schedule of movies, along with an acoustic guitar concert featuring Jack Cimo. Planning is underway for our signature fundraiser and street party, Cocktails & Cinema, on June 6, 2026. We are also developing new events for 2026 that will expand engagement, visibility, and financial support for the restoration.
We are profoundly grateful for the community’s continued generosity. Every contribution—large or small—moves this project forward and ensures that this historic theatre will once again serve as a vibrant, accessible cultural home for generations to come. While progress may unfold step by step, your support keeps the heart and spirit of the theatre strong and thriving.
Thank you for believing in this vision and for helping turn plans into progress.
Warm regards,
Colleen M. Carberry Sands
Executive Director
