Loudon Wainwright III has carved out a distinguished career as one of America’s most original singer-songwriters, a six-string diarist with material that is by turns, tongue-in-cheek, tender, sarcastic, heart-wrenching, and always deeply personal. Along the way, he’s released over twenty albums, won a Grammy, acted in film and TV, and had his songs recorded by artists such as Johnny Cash, Mose Allison and Bonnie Raitt.
Mick Martin, host of “Mick Martin’s Blues Party” on Capital Public Radio, one of the few harmonica players to play Carnegie Hall, has played with everyone from Jimmy Smith to Bo Diddley. Together with his band, Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers, he has won several Sacramento Area Music Awards (SAMMIES). MMBR brings a blend of powerful, soulful blues rock, both original songs and classic blues rock tunes, music that has a touch of humor and a lot of heart.
Award-winning, blues/soul singer and multi-instrumentalist Katie Knipp will open the show.
The Tannahill Weavers are one of Scotland's premier traditional bands. Their diverse repertoire spans centuries with fire-driven instrumentals, topical songs, and original ballads and lullabies. Their music demonstrates to the old and young alike the rich and varied musical heritage of the Celtic people.
